Personalization In Digital Marketing: How Tailored Strategies Drive Success

I was struggling. Not just physically, but mentally, too. I was beginning to overthink things, and instead of doing, I was agonizing. 

I stood up, frustrated, and said, “Sorry” as I tried to reset myself. Maybe I said it to myself. Maybe it was to my trainer, Jesse

But then Jesse, who also happens to be a lifelong friend, said something that caught my attention.

First, he said, “It’s okay.” And then he started to say, “Let’s try that again,” but he caught himself in the moment, and instead said, “Why don’t you experience that again.”

That small shift of language changed my entire outlook, because I knew exactly what he meant. In that context, “trying,” meant to make another attempt at something I was failing at, whereas, “experience” meant that I was exploring — I was in the process of figuring things out, and he was using personalization to help get me there. 

There Is More Than One Way To Create Success

For me, this minor adjustment made all the difference. I have a hard time accepting when I’m not instantly proficient at a new skill, and I certainly do not want you or anyone else to see me stumbling through the basics. This is something I’ve always had a hard time with, despite knowing that no one else cares about these things other than me. 

Later on in our session, I told Jesse that I noticed how he was adjusting his language in the moment, and I found his response enlightening. (Forgive me, Jesse — I’m paraphrasing from memory.)

“There’s a rigidity in the fitness world that there’s only ‘one right way’ to do things. There’s only one way to help people achieve their fitness goals, and I know through my experience as a trainer that that’s not true. I take a different approach with every person that I work with, and I know that it just wouldn’t make sense if I tried to apply the same regimen to each of them.”

And he’s, of course, exactly right. He’s experienced and insightful enough to have a mastery of the pillars of his profession, and can adjust them, based on who he’s working with, his understanding of their goals, and what challenges they might face along the way. 

Despite the fact that we’re working in very different industries, I realized that our approaches are very similar. They both rely heavily on creating more successful outcomes through a personalization of our services.

The Heart Of Our Approach To Campaign Creation: Personalization

Our team has to possess a certain level of mastery, one with a foundation that we can build on and grow from. We have the confidence that we can create an effective strategy, while also understanding that there are countless paths leading to success, because everyone we serve defines success as something slightly different.

This approach, this mindset helps us stave off a rigid work style, keeps us curious and learning, and allows our team to explore what’s possible constructively. 

There’s an immense value in the personalization of service. I mean this in the sense of digital marketing, physical training, you name it. 

I value Jesse’s guidance because I know he understands what my goals are, how I live my life, and what I perceive my challenges to be, while knowing that he’ll use his professional training and experience to develop a strategy that includes the above and his own insights that I am not capable of seeing objectively. 

Again, it’s no different from how Formada operates, except the growth we’re creating is financial vs. physical. 

So, what’s the lesson? Take note of those who go the extra mile to show up for you, personalize their expertise for you, and recognize the importance of your unique goals. These are the folks who are genuinely invested in your success. 
You deserve that sort of experience.
